The federal government has given a nod to Universities in Nigeria to conduct Post UTME Examination to determine who get admitted
It is no news that the ban on post utme examination has been lifted…. That is to say, all schools now have the freedom to set post utme examination questions for their aspirants.
Now, you may begin to wonder, will the University of Lagos (Unilag) and other top Universities that are yet to announce their admission screening conduct post utme examination this year or wait till next year? Let’s see…..
Personally, I feel many top Universities and polytechnics will conduct post utme exam this year. This is to enable them select the best and most qualified candidates for 2017
Post UTME is a better test of knowledge than Jamb. It helps filter out those who who passed Jamb by mistake (you could also pass post UME by mistake anyway).
Now, Is Post Utme A Good News? Writing Post Utme for 2017 admission is both good and bad news.
This is a golden Opportunity For those who scored low in Jamb to prove their worth. A score above 70 or 80% in post Utme can cover up for your low Jamb score.
On the other hand, Jamb score of 270 would have been enough to get you into a very competitive courses. However, a post UME score of 50 will drastically affect your Jamb score by bringing down the aggregate score.
The two arguments above justify the fact that schools conducting post ume exam is both good and bad news.
The last question you may want to ask is, when will schools announce their post Utme examination date? As from next month, post utme exam dates will start rolling out. Some schools have already started screening; they will not not conduct post ume exam this year.
