DEPARTMENT OF Biochemistry
The department offers programmes leading to the degrees of Master of Science (M.Sc.), Master of
Philosophy (M.Phil), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Biochemistry.
The areas of specialization covered by the programmes includes,
Molecular , Biotechnology, Biotechnology, Biomembranes, Lipids, Proteins,
Food and Nutrition, Enzymology, Hormones, Contraceptive, Technology, Neurochemistry and Immunochemistry.
objectives of postgraduate programme in Biochemistry are:
(a) To train in the methods of scientific enquiry for those wishing to pursue academic career in research and/or teaching
(b) To provide insight into modern biochemical techniques needed in industries such as food, pharmaceutical, agrochernical etc.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
M.Sc BIOCHEMISTRY
(i) The programme is open to candidate with Bachelors degree in Biochemistry or related disciplines of the University of Lagos or any other University approved by Senate.
(ii) Candidate maybe required to undergo a selection process.
M.Phil. Biochemistry
M.Sc. degree in biochemistry, physiological Chemistry, Molecular biology and chemistry of this university or any other university recongnized by senate or B.Sc. Honours degree in biochemistry obtained at least at the level of second class upper division from the university of Lagos or any other
University recognized by senate.
Candidate may be required to satisfy the department in an interview or written examination or both.
Ph.D Biochemistry
The programme is open to candidate with M.Phil, degree in Biochemistry of this university or of any other university approved by senate.
