The technological growth of any country depends to a large extent on the ingenuity of its high caliber technical manpower. For a well—trained and conscientious Biomedical Engineer, challenging and interesting job opportunities abound in Nigeria as well as overseas. This ranges from the design, development, production, operation, installation and maintenance of hospital, pharmaceutical and general instruments and equipment to management.
The PGD in Biomedical Engineering programme is designed to give the candidates from relevant disciplines but who have not met the requirement for M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering, the opportunity pursue a higher degree in Biomedical Engineering The M.Sc. program is designed to equip candidates with advanced skills necessary to meet the career challenges and opportunities in the field of Biomedical Engineering.
PGD BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING
Candidates having a Bachelor’s degree from University of Lagos or any other approved university in the following disciplines; Physics, Biological Sciences, Medical Sciences. Candidates with Higher National Diploma QIND) from approved polytechnics in the following disciplines; Engineering, Computer Science.
Applicants for Masters (M.Sc.) in Biomedical Engineering should have a Bachelor’s degree in
Biomedical Engineering and other related engineering disciplines of the University of Lagos or any other university recognized by the Senate of the University of Lagos with a minimum of Second class lower. Honours degree in other non-biomedical Engineering related discipline with a PGD degree in Biomedical Engineering of this University or any other university recognized by the senate of the University of Lagos.

* Biomaterials & Fabrication Lab
NATURE OF ASSESSMENT
Student will be assessed by written examinations and project.
The duration of the PGD and M.Sc. shall be a minimum of 2 semesters.
Career opportunities are numerous for biomedical engineers, as there are rapid development of costly medical and pharmaceutical equipment and instruments in hospitals and allied industries. Graduates with advanced degrees in Biomedical Engineering will be employed by hospitals, medical equipment manufacturers, pharmaceutical manufacturing computer companies, universities and medical research organizations.
