MASTER OF NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT (MNRM)

AWARD REQUIREMENTS
This postgraduate programme is currently only running at the Masters level. It is interdisciplinary, recognizing that successful resource management can only he accomplished by combining technical aspects with social and economical understanding. The programme is aimed at developing natural resource managers of the future.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
(i) The programme is open to candidates who possess a Bachelors Degree in Sciences, Education Science, Engineering, Technology Earth Sciences and other related disciplines of the university of Lagos or any other approved University

(ii) Candidates are required to satisfy all other School of Postgraduate studies.

GENERAL COURSE CONTENT
* Natural resource ecology chemistry toxicology
* Resource inventory analysis, biometry
* Resource conservation biology Conservation of biodiversity
* Principles of Geographic Information System (GIS.
* Environmental management, law and regulations, economic botany
* Environmental aspects of resource use.

Course work and Research.

DURATION
M.Sc. 24 months

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
The degree will provide opportunities to work in industries requiting the usage and conservation of needed plants, research centres, ecotourism centres, as well as governmental parastatals involved in conservation policies. It will also offer the graduate an opportunity to work as a professional consultant on conservation matters and as an academician.

Ph.D. DEGREE AWARD REQUIREMENTS
The Ph.D. (Botony) degree may be obtained by:
(1) A candidate with an M.Phil. degree of this or other approved university or equivalent qualification passing a minimum number of six and a maximum number of 12 units.

(ii) Satisfying all the other existing requirements of the School of Postgraduate Studies.

GENERAL COURSE CONTENT
Research Seminar TI, with the following optional courses:
Experience Ecology; Trends Eco Physiology, Advanced Plant
Pathology; Biosystematics, Advanced Plant Virology, Stomatal Physiology; Advanced Enzymes
Physiology; Physiology of Growth and Development, Rock Shore Algal Ecology; Halophyte Ecology; and Application of research method of Botany; Research Seminar III and Advanced Plant Taxonomy;

NATURE OF ASSESSMENT
Course work /Seminar/Case studies/Research Proposal/Research Project

DURATION
Ph.D.: 36 months
