DEPARMENT OF Chemical Engineering
The Department of Chemical Engineering offers the following programmes:
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Chemical Engineering,
Master of Science (M.Sc.), Master of Philosophv (M.Phil.), Master in Process Engineering
(M.P.E.), Doctor of philosophy (Ph.D).) programme.

POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA (PGD) IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
The programme is a conversion course for graduates in Science and Engineering whose basic degrees ate not in chemical Engineering but rho seek to obtain some expertise in this field. The programme consists of taught courses, engineering drawing and workshop practice and a process design project. The duration of the programme is four (4) academic semesters.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Minimum of Third Class degree from the University of Lagos or any other approved university

GENERAL COURSE CONTENT
Engineering Mathematics; Physical Organic and Inorganic Chemistry; Chemical Process Analysis;
Engineering Drawing and Workshop Practice; Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering; Chemical Engineering Kinetics, and Catalysis. Chemical Reaction Engineering; Transport and Separation Processes; Computer Programming; Thermodynamics; Process Dynamic, Control and Optimization; Biochemical
Engineering; Process Simulation, Chemical Engineering Process Design Project.

MASTER OF SCIENCE (M.Sc.)
This programme consists of taught courses and a project. Major areas
specialization are: Biochemical, Food and Biotechnology; Chemical Reaction; Engineering and catalysis; Transport and Separation Processes; Process Dynamics, Control and Instrumentation; Mathematical Analysis and Optimization; Petroleum and Energy Studies; Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Development. The duration of the programme is two (2) semesters.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Minimum of Second Class Lower degree.

GENERAL COURSE CONTENT
Biochemical, Food and Biotechnology; Chemical Research Engineering and Catalysis; Transport and Separation Processes; Process Dynamics. Control and Instrumentation; Mathematical Analysis and Optimization; Petroleum ad Energy Studies; Environmental Engineering. Corrosion Engineering.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
M.Phil. and Ph.D. (minimum of M.Sc. degree with CGPA of 3.00 /5.00)

GENERAL COURSE CONTENT
Selected topics in Chemical Engineering; Research Seminar I and Research Seminar II.

This programme is designed to impart process engineering skills to scientists and engineers who are practising in chemical, oil and gas, and allied industries. The programme consists of taught courses, process design and simulation studies and an engineering project. The duration of the programme is four (4) semesters.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Minimum of Third Class degree from the University of Lagos or any other approved university

Chemical Engineering Fundamentals; Unit Operations; Cost Engineering; Process Re- engineering; Project Management; Computer-Aided Design and Engineering; Communication Skill; Production System Design and Analysis; Business and Project Finance; Industrial Waste Management Solid Mineral Management; Gas Technology; Food and Biochemical Engineering; Petroleum Refining and Petrochemical Operations; Engineering Project.

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (Ph.D) PROGRAMME
This programme consist research, four research seminars and a dissertation. Candidates may undertake research in any one of the areas listed under the M.Sc programme.

M.Pbil. and Ph.D. (minimum of M.Sc. degree with CGPA 3.00/5.00)
