The Master of Science in Public Health degree programme commenced in the 2006/2007 academic session. The main difference between the M.P.H. and the M. Sc. Public Health programme is that, while the former is a professional qualification entailing preceptorships and postings to local government councils and industrial health services, the latter will be more of an academic degree.

It is expected that at the end of the programme, students would have acquired knowledge and skills to enable them apply public health principles in the planning, implementation and evaluation of health programmes. In particular, students would have sharpened analytic skills that would enable them critically assess environmental factors as well as public health interventions and their potential/relative impacts on health.

The programme is available in four options:
* M.Sc. Public Health (Health Management Option)
* M.Sc. Public Health Option)
* M.Sc. Public Health Statistics)
* M.Sc. Public Health ((4 Health Option)

MASTER OF SCIENCE PROGRAMME IN PEE HEALTH
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The programme is candidates who pos. degree from the university of Lagos or any other recognized in any of the fields of human, social or natural sciences such as medicine, pharmacy, nursing engineering, sociology, etc.

Candidates for admission into the programme are required to undergo a selection process.

GENERAL COURSE CONTENT
Epidemiology and Medical ; Environmental Health p Planning Mass Communication; Nutrition and Health; sub-specialist Specific Courses.

NATURE OF ASSESSMENT
Written examination as well as assessment of project.

DURATION
The M. Sc. Public Health programme is a part-time, covering 24 months.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Holders of the M. Sc. degree of the University of Lagos will be able to function in the different areas of Public practice including heal: disease control; in local government health departments as medical Officer of Health (MOH); Ministries of Health; universities ; industries, non-governmental agencies focusing cm health; as well as international agencies such as WHO, UNICEF, UNDP, among others.

MASTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH (MPH) DEGREE PROGRAMME

The MPH   degree programme commenced in 1980 with the objective preparing candidates with prerequisite familiarity to health delivery systems for leadership in public health, primary health care delivery and management through in-depth exposures to advances in health sciences and to quantitative social and managerial skills.
it is expected that at the end of the programme, students would have acquired knowledge and skills to enable them apply public health principles in the planning, implementation and evaluation of health programmes. In particular, students would have sharpened analytic skills that would enable them critically assess environmental factors as well as public health interventions and their potential/relative impacts on health.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The programme is open to candidates who possess an MB.BS/BDS of the university of Lagos or equivalent medical or dental degrees from any recognized university In addition to the above, all candidates must have at least three years’ post-degree experience in Medicine , or allied health fields in industry, federal, state, or local government health and safety or medical programmes.
