This year, the world has recorded quite a number of sudden deaths. In response to the global challenges posed by these avoidable deaths, the Medical Centre organized 3-day Health Week programme tagged “Sudden Death, Way Out”.

The programme kicked off with a Rally/Health Walk with the theme: “Know Your HIV Status” on Monday, December 3, 2018. The second day, Tuesday, December 4, 2018 featured a Public Lecture on the central theme, “Sudden Death, Way Out” delivered by two Guest Speakers: Professor Jane Ajuluchukwu, a professor of Medicine at the College of Medicine and Consultant Cardiologist at CMUL, and Dr. Emeka Ogbolu, a Consultant Psychiatrist at LUTH & Coordinator, LUTH-Suicide Research and Prevention Initiative (SURPIN). Dr. Ogbolu spoke on “Sudden Death and Psychiatry”.

On the same day, a novelty match between the Medical Centre Team and the Centre for Information Technology Systems (CITS) Team was played at the Sports Centre. It was an awesome match filled with thrills and spills with the CITS Team defeating the Medical Team 1 goal to nothing (1 – 0).

On the third and final day, a free health screening was conducted for members of staff, students and the general public. The programme was brought to a close with a Dinner/Get Together at the Tolu Odugbemi Hall.
